The City of Perham, Minnesota is a highly innovative/successful community in the lakes territory of west central Minnesota. If you're exploring site locations for your business, you'll find no better place than Perham. Before we tell you about JOBZ, we'd like to tell you about ourselves.

What is JOBZ?
Perham is happy to offer the benefits of the new JOBZ program (Job Opportunity Building Zones). This is a new and exciting tool to stimulate activity, offering an environment nearly free of state and local taxes. These tax incentives will help new and expanding companies lower their overall costs and facilitate their growth in Perham.

Perham has nearly 400 acres designated for JOBZ, so can accommodate businesses ranging from small to mega. Full city services, natural gas and modern communication capabilities are available.

 

How does JOBZ save you money?
JOBZ tax incentives will reduce company expenses, increase competitiveness, and help sustain further growth and expansion in Perham, Minnesota:


  Tax Exemptions:
             
*Minnesota Corporate Taxes (income tax, alternate minimum tax, minimum fee)
              *Minnesota Individual Taxes (income tax on investment income, alternative minimum tax)
              *Sales and Use Tax
              *Most Property Taxes (except for land, general obligation bonds, and school operating levies in
                   place prior to zone designation)
             
*Minnesota capital gains taxes for duration in JOBZ
              *Wind Energy Production Tax

Tax Credit:
             
*Job Creation for businesses paying more than $30,000 average annual salary

Who is eligible?
To qualify for the tax exemptions, a business must start-up in the zone, relocate from outside the zone or expand. Companies relocating from another Minnesota site qualify by increasing employment by 20 percent within the first year or making capital investment of at least 10 percent of gross revenues. In addition, businesses must also meet local business assistance goals to qualify for tax exemptions.

Perham is using JOBZ in two ways, and can apply its benefits to small/medium/large businesses:

  1. Manufacture/Assembly
  2. Professionals who don't compete with existing local professionals
How long will JOBZ last?
Exemptions are available until December 31, 2015, and include the credits listed earlier.
